  Wonderful hotel located close to downtown yet it has a relaxing feeling. Everything from the rooms to the breakfast plus the greeter dog made it feel like a home away from home.

  location is good.

  Rooms too small. Pictures looked bigger. Too expensive for size of room. Towels were not replaced - had to ask for clean ones on second day. Bathroom hadn't been swept from last customer. Toilet paper was low upon arrival.

  We were charged 24 dollars per night tax (i.e. 72 dollars) extra. Both your confirmation to me and confirmation to the hotel confirmed that taxes were included. Why was I therefore charged this extrA. the manager at the hotel was adamant that I had to pay this

  The opportunity to either chill out beside the lake or stroll - 30 minutes, or - from outside hotel -bus to downtown to take in the local scene: natural history museum, the Citadel, the waterfront. Also the meals and service at the hotel restaurant. The chocolate labrador was fun to watch in action!

  The view of the lake and the bed was so comfortable. The Lakeside Grill was absolutely delicious.

  Bacon at breakfast would be nice, but the ham was delicious!

  the speed of service was GREAT, rooms were very clean

  internet service went down, the wired outlet for the internet was in a strage place( wired-hard connection is ALWAYS faster)

  We ate at the Lake Side Grill our first night there and were blown away by the food and service. The complimentary breakfast the next morning was amazing.

  First I must say the view was phenominal. My sister and I grew up just across the lake, so it was wonderful to be where we grew up. The service was wonderful. The beds very comfortable and food great the closeness to all amenities, the best. Intend this hotel to be my place when I come to Halifax to visit. Colleen Manning

  It is an inexpensive but well equipped hotel. We enjoy the whirlpool and swimming pool. Recently the evening meals have been of a higher standard (since January) and the free breakfast is appreciated.

  Cleaning the pool and whirlpool obviously has to be done periodically. But this was not clearly mentioned on the website and we would not have chosen to come had we been notified as these are two facilities we like to use. When we complained about it and pointed out that it was not made clear on the website, there was no hint of any compensation and it was too late for us to change hotels.

  We have stayed at chocolate lake before because the price is good, it is convenient to where we wanted to go, and we are allowed to bring our dog with us, something lots of hotel wont let you do

  W hat I liked about this hotel is it was kind of like home away from home. Not right in the city but not too far from our purpose of being there which is to watch Dals hockey game. It was nice to look out thw window onto the lake and seeing people enjoy the outdoors. I also enjoyed the gym and pool ans the breakfast buffet was good also.
